Answer these three questions about Chapter 8.
1) In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
This blog will be graded based on the completeness and thoughtfulness of your responses.
1) I think the point of graphing equations is to be able to find a lot of ordered pairs that could be solutions for the equation. It helps us understand what numbers we have to plug in to make the equation true.
ReplyDelete2) I feel like I understand all of the concepts prior to this test. The most difficult concept for me to understand is how to change slope-intercept form into standard form.
3) My goal for the fourth quarter is to be able to remember all the concepts and equations we have learned till now. I could accomplish this goal by reviewing my work everyday.
1) I think the point of graphing equations is to know how to solve equations with more than one variable and put them in other forms to make a line. It helps us understand the concept of drawing lines that is equal to the equation and to write equations and make it linear.
ReplyDelete2) Yes I do feel like I understood all of the concepts prior to this test. For me, figuring out how to put an equation with only x intercept and y intercept was the hardest part.
3) My goal for fourth quarter is to study for the chapter we’re going to learn ahead at home so that I won’t get behind.
1) I think the point of graphing equations is to learn how to graph without needing direct coordinate points and solve our way through the question to find the answer. It helps us understand the concept of graphing deeper and know the different ways to graph the points.
ReplyDelete2) I feel like I understand pretty much all of the concepts prior to this test. The most difficult concept for me to understand was figuring out how to find the equation when the question only gives a few bits of information. While taking the test I got very confused.
3) A goal for the fourth quarter would be to review the chapters more and not be lazy. I sometimes feel like I already know the basic concept so I don't need to review which is what caused me to not fully comprehend how to find the equation. Next time, if there's something I'm not sure about or I don't understand I will try reviewing more or visit Mr. Jobe.
1) Graphing equations lets us understand and see how equations can be useful in real life situations. Also, it lets us get a better understanding of functions and how we can convert equations to other forms such as slope-intercept for to a standard form. Not only that, after the we convert, we can check our work by graphing the equations.
ReplyDelete2) Yes, i felt like i understood most of the concepts because it was almost like a review for me. The only thing i had trouble with was making sure the variables of the Stand form were whole numbers.
3) My goal will be to try better and review over concepts more throughly instead of trying to wing some confusing concepts. ^^
1) In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the point of graphing equations was to be able to use maps or find out where something is using map. Just like the bonus question we did, we are able to find out where Car C was by only knowing the coordinate planes and the slope. If we were in real life situation, we would be able to use a map to find out where things are. It would be really important because no one knows when they are going to be stranded in the middle of nowhere.
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
Yes, I do think that we understood all of the concepts prior to this test. I did not see any questions that I didn’t review. However, a concept that was most difficult for me to understand was function. At first, I didn’t understand the whole concept of domain can only have one range but a range can have more than one domain. The wording and the concept was difficult for me but when I actually looked at the concept with the graph, I was able to understand bit by bit.
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
My goal for 4th quarter is to be independent. Through out my life, I was always dependent on other factors of life such as hagwons and tutors. However, a mother of my friend told me that if you go to college or boarding school, I have to independent and learn to do things on my own. This chapter, I have tried to be independent and I believe it went pretty well. If I continue trying to be independent I think not only can I get better grades but better life.
In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
ReplyDeleteI think the point of graphing equations is to see the relationship/pattern between numbers as well as to find certain points on maps. If you want to make a graph showing the expected rise in (for example) objects bought, then you would need to get the formula and then you have to plug in the numbers, then you just graph it. Another reason is to find your way on a map. In the bonus problem, we had to find the position of car C with just two points, 2 slopes, and 2 hints. Another reason would be that it would help us understand the topic more deeply and to see how the ordered pair actually fit together in the equation to make it work.
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
I felt like I understood all of the concepts prior to the test. I didn’t really have to review because of my project. With the project, I fully understood how to find the slope, y-intercept, and how to change from standard form to slope-intercept and vise-versa. The only slightly confusing thing was the domain and range. At first, it was confusing, but with the birthday example, I understood it perfectly.
Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
I wish to review and study the concepts more thoroughly to better understand them. I can do this by doing more practice problems and if I am stuck, then go to Mr. Jobe for help. Another way is to take better notes by paying more attention at the details and the concept.
1)In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
ReplyDeleteIt makes it easier to understand the concept and it's more straightforward and less complicated if you have something visual to see.
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
I didn't understand absolutely everything and I got stuck on some parts of the test. I don't really know what kind it is, however it takes me a few moments to finally understand what is was asking for, however on worst cases, I could not remember anything about it and have to guess, which gives the least percent of getting the problem right.
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
I should definitely check my test before turning it in because I always make stupid mistakes that I have lost before finishing it up. Also, I miss to review small parts of the section when reviewing for a test. That's the real downfall because if I forget to do so, haha… guess what happens… I'd have to literally squeeze my brain out until I finally guess or get the answer. Most of the time, I just skip it and move on with other problems and get back to it later on. Of course, if I completely forget, I'd have to guess, and that's not really good, is it? Therefore I'm working forward to strive in accuracy and be more flawless in my work.

ReplyDeleteIt helps us to understand the concept, and understand the functions. Also less complicated in the future to help us graph harder problems
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
The most difficult concept for me to understand is how to change equations into a standard form, but mostly I understand concepts to this test.
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
My forth quarter goal is to turn in every single homework in on time, and of course check my test before turning in. I always make mistakes, for example forgetting a negative sign in front of a number. Also concentrate in class so I understand most of the problems.
1) I think the point of graphing equations is to see the relationship of coordinates and equations. Without graphing, I would have never imagined that the equations were used to make straight lines, as well as curved lines. This lesson of graphing equations helped me visualize the concept of finding coordinates in which make the equations true.
ReplyDelete2) Yes, I felt like I understood all of the concepts prior to the test. However, the most difficult concept for me was finding the equation when only given the x and y intercepts because I often confused myself by solving for b without knowing so.
3) My goal for the 4th quarter would be to review the lessons learned on that day so I won't have to cram for tests and quizzes. It would also help me retain the information longer and reassure myself that I understand all of the concepts thoroughly.
1) In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
ReplyDeleteI think that the point of graphing equations is to get to know and relate solving equations to drawing graphs. It helps us understand the concept of drawing with equations and it also helps us understand how do locate things in a map, or learn how to see how a map or a drawing works.
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
I feel like i understood all of the concepts prior to this test. The most difficult concept for me to understand was when there was only one point told to us, and one x intercept and we were supposed to figure out something. The part where we were supposed to graph the lines were pretty confusing also.
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
For my one goal for the 4th quarter, I would like to review what I learnt before quizzes or tests. Not only review but also to solve basic questions and to memorize all the necessary vocabulary.
1) In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
ReplyDeleteWell there are many usages of the things we learned such as in engineering, and getting distances from one point to another, and finding the location of something, and so on.
2) Do you feel like you understood all of the concepts prior to this test? Which was the most difficult concept for you to understand?
I think i understand all the concepts, and I am comfortable with them. However I had struggled with finding the exact location of where two non parallel lines intersect, without making a graph. I even forgot on how to do it in the test, however I remember now.
3) Make one goal for the 4th quarter, but do not make it about grades. For example, if you want your grade to be higher, what can you do to make that happen?
My first and simple goal is to be more organized and ready, so I will NEVER miss an assignment and never fail to study for a test.
Also I want to move on early to high school math concepts, so I can have a head start.
I think the point of graphing equations is it helps us realize that it can be very easily applied to real life. It helps us understand that functions, graphs and equations are being applied every day in many subjects. It shows how important graphs are in life, especially keeping track of progress in real life, or using a graph to predict trends that are happening and going to happen. It is also very useful in pinpointing locations if you need to know where a place is but you don’t know.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I understood all the concepts before the test. The slightly more difficult to understand concept was the rule of the domain and range, but after it was explained, I understood why that rule existed and how it otherwise defied logic.
One goal I have for the 4th quarter is to review my work so I can catch my careless mistakes. I sometimes frequently make little mistakes, so I want to start catching those so I can stop getting problems that I know how to solve wrong.
1) I think graphing equations is very crucial to learning the relationship between coordinates and equations. It is easier to learn the relationships between equations and coordinates because it gives a visualization.
ReplyDelete2) I fully understood all the concepts of this chapter. But, sometimes I got mixed up with the slope.
3) The 4th quarter will be a very important period for me since its a transition to highschool. I want to make sure that I know everything I learned in Algebra so I don't get left behind.
In your opinion, what is the point of graphing equations? What does it help us understand?
