  1. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

I think that it wasn’t challenging until now. I heard that from chapter 3 and 4, the tests get harder. If it does, I don’t think it should get more challenging. I think the words problem will make tests more challenging, because it involves your brain more and to think more.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

I think Mr. Jobe does a great job and works hard to prepare us for the test. He goes over important and major parts which covers most of the chapter. I think for some people, it can be a little fast when we go over the chapter before the test.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

My favorite part was working with partners, because it’s fun and effective. I think by working on the videos, you at least memorize two of the properties and you get to think together to make a better example of the properties.

What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

I think that Mr. Jobe’s class is already fun and exciting, but if it has to be better, I would want to have more projects and group work, so we can have different opinions and ideas.

  2. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Yes, I feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging. Some word problems have had tricky wordings, and some of the equations or expressions are very long and you could make a mistake while doing all the calculations. Other then that, the tests are ok.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

Yes, I feel like Mr. Jobe has adequately prepared me for the tests. Mr. Jobe always goes through problems that we do not understand and he teaches the concepts well. He clearly shows all the steps to the problem and if someone has a question, he answers it in a way that everyone could understand.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

My favorite part about math class so far was that Mr. Jobe gives us class time to do our homework. That way, we have less homework from math. My least favorite part is that now Mr. Jobe collects our warm-ups and grades them. I believe that a warm-up should be a warm-up to get our brains started.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

My only suggestion would be to be able to sit next to who you want to sit next to. If you don’t really know the person next to you, then it gets kind awkward during group activities. If we were sitting next to a person we know, then there would be more discussion during group activities.

  3. 1.Yes, I think the test was reasonably challenging, because it had new types of questions that I haven’t practiced with before, and most of the questions required the formulas we had to remember during classes.

    2. Yes, I think Mr. Jobe adequately prepared us for the tests, because he went over many questions with us and I could see that all the homework he has given to us before were all to prepare us for the test - I could see some questions that were similar to those we have went over as homework. Plus, he made us right down all the formulas needed in class time.

    3. My favorite part in math so far is probably simplifying algebraic equations. This is because I think it was the part I was best at and I understood these parts very well - I just have to practice to simplify quicker. I think my least favorite part is on the next chapter, where we have to memorize all the names of properties of equations, because I’m really bad at memorizing things and the names of them makes it even harder since they all kind of sound similar.

    4. I suggest we should maybe do more exercises that helps us understand the properties and formulas more than those that help us practice solving them, because it would probably be easier for us to memorize them for the test if we understand it properly.

  4. I think that the tests were well-made because it wasn't hard so that you'd be stuck on a problem trying to solve out complicated numbers, but it still made you think back to what we've learned.
Also, we were given many practice homework and enough practice to be ready for the test even though more practice won't hurt.
My favorite part of math is that the amount of homework we get is enough to finish in class usually if we work hard and fast enough. What I dislike about math is the bellworks. For some reason, even before I came to KIS, I would be fine in any tests, quizzes and homework, but whenever we solved bellworks, I would always fail it... I think that my math grade is going to drop because of my failed bellworks...
I don’t think that this class needs any improvement..... I honestly can’t think of one even if i keep thinking for like 10 minutes.

  5. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

-I feel like the tests have been not so hard yet not so super easy. They were just about right. I feel like the tests are like that because the tests have a mixture of easy and a bit confusing problems.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

    - I feel like Mr.Jobe has well prepared us for the tests. We had homework based on the important information that we need to know, and he explains questions well when we go over classwork and homework. He also always explains how to solve questions we don’t get.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

    - My favorite part about math class is when we play games and do classwork to review what we learned. My least favorite part is when we take pop-quizzes and to warm-ups to be graded.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

    - To improve this class I think we would need more projects, and seatings where you can get to sit next to who you want to.

  6. 1) I don't think the tests are getting harder, but it isn't getting easier either. To make tests challenging, you should put more word problems in it because word problems are harder and I usually get more w.problems wrong than others.

    2) Yes because we always had review games and he always told us that is going to be a test a week before.

    3) My favorite part in our math class are review games that we do before tests and quizzes. However, I don't really like bell works. Especially when they are graded.

    4) We can have more projects! Projects usually help me learn better.

  7. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
-Yes, I feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging. They're not too hard but not too easy. The challenging part of the tests are how some of the wordings in word problems can be accidentally translated into a different equation/expression. With just this simple mistake, it can lead to a whole new answer and therefore I would get it wrong.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
-Yes, I think Mr. Jobe adequately prepares me for the tests because of the keynotes and how we go over problems we don't understand in class.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
-My favorite part about math class is how the classes are fun and challenges the students just the right amount. My least favorite part about math class is how warm ups are now graded.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
-I think warm ups should be more challenging, but not graded. Warm ups should try to start up your brain so that solving problems are a bit more easier during class.

  9. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
    A. The tests were not very mentally challenging however as we advance into deeper material and we go into real algebra, the tests will be much harder. What we are doing now is just a review or the basic concepts of what we are going to learn this year. I don't think that the tests should be much harder because we are just getting ready for the oncoming wave of more advanced tests.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
    A. Yes, Mr Jobe provides us with a fun and entertaining, yet effective way to help us memorize our properties and equations. And he gave us worksheets to help us review and graded them it make sure we do them.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
    A. My favorite part about math class was the video part because it was fun making the videos, however watching all of them was fun and learning. It really got me thinking that this math class was different from all the others.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
    A. I suggest that we do more projects which provide us with a fun and effective way to memorize what we learned. Especially movies.

  10. 1. I feel like the tests have been not challenging. I think word problems that involves more thinking would make them more challenging.

    2. I think Mr.Jobe adequately prepared me for the tests, because he gave a lot of problems from the book, examples from the real life, bell work, and keynote.

    3. Doing the classwork assignments was my favorite part about math class so far, because I like solving simple calculations. Also it enhanced my speed and accuracy of completing problems. Doing bell work has been my least favorite part of the class, because my brain couldn’t operate well in the beginning of the class, which sometimes gave me some weird answers.

    4. I believe that “not grading” the bell work might calm our mind and get a better result on bell work problems, because grading bell work gave me some pressure.

  11. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
-Not all tests were reasonably challenging. Some parts on tests like the word problems have been challenging because it makes you think harder and you have to form an equation out of the information they’re giving us.
    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
-Yes I do think Mr. Jobe adequately prepared us for the tests because he explained what would come out. He gave us worksheets that would have the problems that would come out on the tests and he got us to practice.
    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
-My favorite thing about math class so far is how Mr. Jobe checks the bell works we do and makes sure we get what the questions mean. By doing that, I don’t make the same mistakes over again. My least favorite part so far was how he skipped through the lessons so fast that is was hard for me to write down/read the keynote.
    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
-My suggestions to make the class more fun is to do more group projects related to the topics we’re studying.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

What suggestions do you have to improve this class?

I think the test is reasonably challenging. I think this because Mr. Jobe puts in extra questions that we might have learned before or a little more challenging than the ones we learned. If the test is all easy questions, no one will study and it will lose its meaning of TESTS. So Mr. Jobe putting in more questions that are a bit challenging makes the test reasonably challenging.

I think Mr. Jobe does a adequate job of preparing for the tests. I think this because some questions I see that from the test are the past chapters. So that means he has to go back in the book so I think he does a adequate job.

My personal favorite part of the math class so far is the property video. We were able to work together with the people we want to. My least part of math class was the bell work..... It started to count against our grade so I really don’t like it.

To improve the class I think we should do more fun activities~that we work together with people. I really learned a lot when I worked together with Kelvin. I was able to learn faster and easier.

  13. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?

Yes, solving consecutive integers was challenging because the 2 different steps between consecutive integers and consecutive odd and even integers were confusing for me.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.

Yes because everything that he taught us about came out on the test.

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?

Reviewing previews lessons constantly and making sure we understand the lesson. I least like getting graded on bell work.

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class? nothing...

  14. 1) I feel like the tests were reasonably challenging. They weren’t too hard but they weren’t too easy as well. I think I struggle with word problems so some of the word problems on the test seemed pretty challenging.

    2) I feel like Mr. Jobe prepares us very well for tests because he always reviews for us and makes us feel like we can do well. For example, the pizzazz worksheet helps a lot because it shows if we get the answer wrong right away. I like how Mr. Jobe gives us a lot of problems and worksheets. Even though sometimes I feel that I don’t want to solve them sometimes, it really helps me to prepare.

    3) The favorite part about math class so far was doing the properties video. At first it was hard to come up with an idea but once I had the idea, it was fun collaborating with someone and I enjoyed making the videos.

    4) If I had to give a suggestion, I would say that it would be more fun to have group work and fun games to help us review for our tests.

    1. I think the tests were just right for me. Some questions were hard and confusing but tests just can’t be really easy and not make you think. Of course I would love it if all the questions were easy but if students know that all questions were really easy, we won’t study and our math skills won’t improve. So basically I think the test is reasonably challenging. The word problems are sometimes confusing though.

    2. Yes, I think Mr. Jobe adequately prepared us for the tests because we do review lessons before a test and that helps me understand things fully if I didn’t understand it completely before. I also like it how Mr. Jobe solves the questions on the board so I get what to do in every step. I also the properties video helped me learn more properties easily so I think that was a great project.

    3. My favorite part about math class so far was the properties video project because it was pretty fun making those videos and also, it helped me a lot in learning those properties. I also really like group works so I guess that was the biggest reason why I liked that properties video project. My least favorite part was memorizing those properties. Even though making those videos were fun, it isn’t that easy to memorize all those properties and to tell the truth, it’s not easy and fun memorizing all of them. I don’t like memorizing things so. I guess what I liked so far and what I didn’t like so far is connected.

    4. Some suggestions I have that can improve this class is to have more mini projects (not big projects but just small projects like the property video) because I think they really help us improve our math skills and learn in a fun way.

  16. 1. The test today wasn’t very challenging, but there was problem’s where you couldn’t use any valuables. Those problems were a little challenging, but most other problems weren’t very hard. Except the bonus problem where we had to name the property of the problem. Questions about coins will be a little challenging.

    2. Yes Mr. Jobe did adequately prepared the test for us, because those problems are problems that we have to master. We need a lot of practice on those problems on the test in order to be good at algebra.

    3. My favorite part about math class is that we get to do class works or home works with groups partners. Working with partners are fun and interesting. Some think i hate about math class is that we have too much class works. For example, worksheets, or pages on the text book, and warm ups. Some of them, if we don’t finish it in the class, it becomes home work which i hate the most.

    4. Sometimes, the class gets really boring so people falls asleep. So in order to make us awake, we should have some activities like a math game or some kind of mini games.

  17. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
I think that the first test was kind of challenging for me. The chapter 2 test was not that challenging though. I think you could improve the tests by making it a little more challenging, putting in more word problems than just equations.

    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
I do think that Mr. Jobe has prepared us well for the quiz because we were prepared for the test, we could do the problems and think that the quiz was fairly easy

    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part about math class is the extra time you give us for the homework in class. the least favorite part is when you decided that you would grade the warm ups :(

    4. What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
I think that if we did more projects instead of tests it would make our understanding of the math concept higher. So, i think we should have projects (and groupwork!)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think the tests are fair. The number of test problems are fair. Also I like the fact that you have a chance to get extra credit. I like that the extra credit is also not too easy because then everybody would get it right.

I think Mr.Jobe reviews us pretty well. Also I think Mr.Jobe makes understand the concept well. Also Mr.Jobe makes us solve lots of problems during class and that prevents us from making calculation mistakes.

My favorite part about this class is that we usually get some time to finish homework. Sometimes you also finish it. My least favorite part about math class is that bell work is now graded. Bell work isn’t hard, but in my opinion I think the purpose of it is being a warm-up and not like a daily quiz.

    4. I think we should have more small projects like last time. We should also have more activities since they are fun.

  19. I feel that the tests are not that challenging for now, and the type of problems that would make them more challenging are more word problems, or more complex problems.
I think that Mr. Jobe prepared us for the tests because Mr. Jobe taught us the problems that came out on tests and reviewed them too.
My favorite part about math class is that it’s kind of humorous. My least favorite part is the lack of activities.
I don’t really have suggestions as long as we are going to do some review activities like the scavenger hunt or the betting game.

  20. 1. Do you feel like the tests have been reasonably challenging? If they are challenging to you, what makes them challenging? If they are not challenging to you, what types of problems would make them more challenging?
I think the test was adequately challenging, but it had many questions.
    2. Do you feel like Mr. Jobe adequately prepared you for the tests? Explain why or why not.
Yes, most of the questions that came out was what he taught.
    3. What has been your favorite part about math class so far? What has been your least favorite part?
My favorite part was to watch the video but the least favorite part was making the movie with a “partner.”
What suggestions do you have to improve this class?
Less project and group-work and more classwork.
